Agility Drills
Baseball requires explosive first steps, quick direction changes, and lateral movement. These drills translate directly to fielding, base running, and outfield pursuit.
Drills
| Drill | Setup | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| 5-10-5 shuttle | 3 cones, 5 yards apart. Sprint 5 right, 10 left, 5 right. | Change of direction |
| T-drill | 4 cones in a T. Sprint forward, shuffle right, shuffle left, backpedal. | Multi-directional movement |
| Ladder quick feet | Agility ladder on the ground. Quick, controlled steps through. | Foot speed, coordination |
| Lateral shuffle | 10-yard shuffle, touch the line, shuffle back. 6 reps. | Infield range, lateral quickness |
| Drop step + sprint | Start facing forward. On command, drop step and sprint 15 yards. | Outfield reads |
| Cone weave | 6 cones zig-zag, 3 yards apart. Sprint through, plant hard at each turn. | Cutting ability |
Time everything. Agility improves when kids compete against their own times. Write it down, try to beat it next week. Use the tracker.
